Farmers block Jalandhar-Nakodar Highway ahead of PM Modi’s Rally

According to reports, farmer organizations are protesting near the Ahlowal village.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be reaching PAP ground in Jalandhar to address a rally in favour of Jalandhar LS Candidate Sushil Rinku. However, farmers have blocked the Nakodar-Jalandhar Highway ahead of PM’s visit to Jalandhar.

According to reports, farmer organizations are protesting near the Ahlowal village. Heavy police force has been deployed to tackle the protesting farmers. Farmers have been vehemently protesting against the BJP in Punjab, with several BJP candidates also facing their ire.

Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher had informed yesterday that farmer unions will be marching towards the PM’s rally venues today to put forth their demands and concerns. The farmers staged a protest and said that they will take out a protest march against the Prime Minister.

Due to farmers blocking the Jalandhar Nakodar Highway, commuters are facing trouble as well. As soon as information about the incident was received, a large number of police including Jalandhar Rural SP Manpreet Singh Dhillon reached the spot. Efforts are being made by the police to pacify the farmers.

 PM Modi will arrive at the PAP Ground in Jalandhar at around 5:30 PM in the evening.
