On 26th January, the tractor march across the country for 13 demands including minimum support price (MSP) on crops has started in Haryana-Punjab. The announcement to take out this tractor march was jointly made by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (non-political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, who are protesting at Shambhu and Khanauri border.
According to the announcement of the farmers, the tractor march is to be taken out from 12 noon to 1.30 pm in front of the houses of BJP leaders and malls. However, in Haryana and Punjab, it was get started before time.
During the march a large number of tractors were seen running on the roads. Additionally, today is the 62nd day of the hunger strike of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal at Khanauri border. After taking glucose and medical treatment, his health is improving.
The 70-year-old patient has been fasting at Khanauri, the border point between Punjab and Haryana, since November 26 in support of their long-pending demands, including a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops, loan waiver and reforms to improve conditions in the agricultural sector.
Previously, on 30th December, a call for Punjab Bandh was given from 7 am to 4 pm. Due to which trains, buses and national highways were closed. Punjab was closed in support of farmers who are agitating for 13 demands, including the guarantee of MSP of crops. The farmers had closed the highway at 7 am and have sat on the Amritsar-Delhi and Jalandhar-Delhi national highways.
