On 18th December, Wednesday, several activists from the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha blocked railway tracks from 12 noon to 3 pm. This Rail Roko movement was held in the support of the ongoing farmers' protest at Shambhu border and Khanouri border in Punjab.
Farmers sat on the track from 12 pm to 3 pm at a total of 48 places. Farmers blocked railway tracks in Amritsar, Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur districts. This movement was announced by farmer leader Saravan Pandher on 14th December. The movement aims to pressure the government to accept farmers’ demands.
