Flights are going to soon commence from Halwara Airport in Ludhiana. Deputy Commissioner Jatinder Joswal has shared this information today. He has stated that an important meeting was held at the airport with various departments.
He mentioned that the Pollution Control Board and other administrative departments have completed all formalities as well.
Only few permissions from the Air Force and a few other government bodies are pending, which he expects to be granted soon. Joswal has expressed hope that the process would be completed shortly and flights would begin from Halwara Airport.
Before this, several deadlines for the airport had been missed. The new target deadline is set for March 2025, which has accelerated the pace of work. The terminal building and other infrastructure work at the airport is nearly completed.
Additionally, Rajya Sabha member from Ludhiana, Sanjeev Arora, had raised the issue with the central Defence Minister, and once the necessary permissions are completed, two Air India flights will soon operate from Halwara Airport. Our team had earlier reported on this matter, which led to the administration speeding up the work.
Previously, Rajya Sabha MP from Ludhiana, Sanjeev Arora said that Air India has confirmed him that flight operations from Halwara Airport will begin in the future.
On 11th January, MP Sanjeev Arora shared a post on X, announcing about the flight operations. The post reads, “Delighted to share that Air India has confirmed they will commence flights from Halwara International Airport once all regulatory approvals are met. This marks a significant step in enhancing connectivity to Ludhiana and unlocking new opportunities for Punjab’s business and tourism sectors. My heartfelt thanks to all stakeholders for turning this vision into reality!”
P Balaji has informed Sanjeev Arora about the flight operations and said, “this new development marks an exciting milestone in our efforts to expand connectivity to Punjab, benefiting both business and tourism sector”.
