Education is the pivot around which the prosperity of any society revolves. It seems the key point behind the  ideology of the Punjab Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh, who has not only promised to focus on the qualitative improvement in education in his poll manifesto in 2017 but has prepared a roadmap to give a concrete shape to his vision at the ground level. Under his visionary stewardship, the Punjab has emerged as pioneer state in the country, which has succeeded in bringing in revolutionary qualitative improvement in school education during the past three years.  

Fulfilling the pre-poll promise, the Punjab Govt. under " Captain Smart Connect" scheme is providing smart phones to all the +2 students studying in the government school, said the Cabinet Minister  Aruna Chaudhary. She was addressing the gathering here today at Govt. Senior Secondary School , Kahma during the third phase of the distribution of smart phones where the district level function was held under the state level virtual programme of  distribution of smart phones. She lauded the announcement of the Chief Minister that the 11th class students, who would get promoted to 12th class after the annual examination, would also be provided smart phones in the next academic session.  While the minister distributed smart phones to as many as 15 students of three schools here adhering to the precautions of COVID-19, as many as  875 students  belonging to 21 students have been distributed mobile phones at their respective schools. Satvir Singh Palli Jhikki, Chairman, District Planning Committee, distributed Smart Phones at GSSS, Chak Bilga.

 Nawanshahr MLA, Angad Singh  said that  it was a historic decision of the Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh to facilitate the students belonging to the underprivileged section of the society to have access to the latest technology to avail the benefits of digital education, the Punjab govt. has started providing Smart Phones equipped with pre-loaded applications related to E.content of the syllabus. He exhorted the students to make the judicious use of the Smart Phones to tap the educational and employment avenues for shaping their career in a better way.  Besides providing Smart Phones, he had also got the abundant funds sanctioned for the state of the art sports complex, extension of infrastructre facilities at local government senior secondary  school and setting up of Govt. College in Nawanshahr constituency.

Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Shena Aggarwal, said on the occasion that the total 3762 students studying in 12th class in the Government Schools in the district had been provided Smart Phones.
