Global Sikh Council Honours Efforts to Resettle Afghan Sikhs, Hindu Refugees

 A special congregation was held at Gurudwara Sri Guru Arjan Dev ji, New Mahavir Nagar, Delhi, Sri Sehaj Paath and Sri Akhand Paths were completed in honour of late Manmeet Singh Bhullar, in whose memory the Bhullar Foundation is relentlessly working for amelioration of the lives of Aghan Sikhs and Hindus and other sections of the community. On the occasion the Afghan Sikh Sangat has honoured and felicitated Paramjit Singh Bedi, a sheet anchor of the Bedi Foundation and also Vice-President of the Global Sikh Council (GSC) for his untiring efforts in the Afghan Sikhs and Hindu refugee relocation project.

The GSC acknowledge that the work of Paramjit Singh Bedi has been pivotal in this regard. "We stand in admiration of Paramjit's unwavering commitment to this cause. His tireless work enabled countless migrant families to start anew with dignity and hope," said Lady Dr. Kanwaljit Kaur, President of the GSC. She has also appealed to the Sangat to help Afgan Sikhs arrived in Delhi for their settlement in Canada.

In his address on the occasion Paramjit Singh Bedi informed that he encouraged the Afghan refugees to maintain the highest Sikh ideals of diligence and integrity in their resettlement journey. He reiterated that the spirit of cooperation and hard work, essentials of Sikh ethos should be their calling. The Afghan Sikh Sangat represented by the community leaders commended Paramjit Bedi recognising his services for the Afghan Hindu-Sikh society and his substantative collaborative efforts in this humanitarian endeavour. 

During the programme, Jagmohan Singh, Editor of The World Sikh News, who is keenly associated with the Afghan project, made an impassioned appeal on the issue. "Let the teachings of Guru Nanak ji guide all to be exemplary citizens and serve as ambassadors of our values in your new communities," he urged the Afghan community.

In her message the Lady Singh Dr Kanwaljit Kaur president of GSC, has expressed deep satisfaction at the generous contributions of the Bhullar Foundation, Bedi Foundation, and Vikramjeet Singh Sahni, MP, whose support has been instrumental in the relocation efforts of Afghan refugees to Canada. "The success of this project is a testament to the solidarity and compassion of our community. Together, we have turned empathy into action," she added.

Harsaran Singh, representing the GSC, emphasized the importance of global unity and support, especially for those in Delhi and those still in Kabul. The GSC has reaffirmed its commitment to this noble cause and extended deepest gratitude to all who have contributed to the success of this ongoing mission.
