In a matter of gross negligence, three elderly women in Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli district, who went to get the covid19 jab, were vaccinated against rabies. This is the second such incident came to light from Yogi Adityanath state in the last one week.
Earlier, a UP woman was administered two shots of the Covid-19 vaccine at a primary health center (PHC) in the Akbarpur area of Kanpur Dehat district. The reason for this was the nurse while giving the dose to the woman was busy talking over the phone.
Now once again a huge negligence of the Uttar Pradesh health department has come to fore after the health condition of one of the three women who were vaccinated against rabies instead covid19 became critical.
The family reportedly created chaos outside the hospital after the woman fall ill and demanded action from the Chief Medical Officer (CMO).
Besides, the incident has also developed fear amongst other citizens who are questioning the functioning and working of the government health care centres.
Raising concerns over the laxity of the UP government, people took to social media and said on one side PM Modi has asked to observe ‘Tika Utsav’ from April 11 to 14, while on the other side, the people are vaccinated for rabies instead of covid19. What’s going on? Any clarity PM Modi or CM Yogi, reads one of the tweets.
Meanwhile, this case is of Kandhla Community Health Center in Shamli where on Thursday, the three elderly women who were identified as Saroj (70), Anarkali (72) and Satyavati (60) went to the Community Health Center to get the first dose of coronavirus vaccine, however, they came back getting vaccinated against rabies instead.
Condition of Saroj is said to be critical and she is undergoing treatment at a private hospital now. She started feeling dizzy and began to panic after which, the family members immediately took her to the private doctor.
After the family members showed a receipt of the vaccine that Saroj received from the health centre, the doctor expressed shock and intimated the family that she has been vaccinated with rabies vaccine not covid19.
Taking action on the matter, the family members of the three women then created a ruckus outside health care centre and complained to the CMO Sanjay Aggarwal about the case, demanding strict action against the negligence of the staff.
