Punjab CM dodged another attack from his own party members as senior Congress leader Harish Rawat today announced that Capt Amarinder Singh will remain the face of state unit in the upcoming 2022 assembly elections. Shocking the delegation of revolting ministers and MLAs, Mr Rawat confirmed that upcoming elections will be fought under the leadership of Capt Amarinder.

Rawat also urged those demanding the removal of Capt that there is no need to reiterate this issue. He further alleged in media that there is no risk to Amarinder Singh’s government, however, there are some issues regarding several government operations in some sectors and districts. Rawat also revealed that the disgruntled ministers shared some key concerns that he would further discuss with party high command.

During this time, Rawat also spoke with Captain Amarinder Singh on the phone.

Briefing to the media about his meeting with rebels, Mr Rawat said that the ministers shared their concerns about the party’s performance in upcoming elections. However, Rawat showed confidence in Capt Amarinder’s leadership and Congress High commands efforts in keeping the party united.

When asked about revolting ministers and MLAs leaving the party in case Capt is not removed from CM’s chair, Rawat stated “this won’t happen. No one leaves home when they get angry.”

Meanwhile, the AICC Punjab in charge also criticized Sidhu's advisors on their recent controversial remarks. He said that they are not a part of Congress and if their statements hurt sentiments of party or nation appropriate action would be taken. Sidhu has also been advised to rein his advisors.

For now, the disgruntled Punjab congress members are satisfied with the meeting with Harish Rawat. Even though accusing Capt of strong ties with Akali Dal leaders the delegation has decided to wait for high commands decision.

Seven MLAs on the other hand denied being part of the anti-Capt revolt. These are Kuldeep Vaid, Dalvir Singh Goldie, Santokh Singh Bhalaipur, Ajit Singh Mofar, Angad Singh, Raja Warring and Gurkirat Singh Kotli.
