Addressing the media after meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh in the national capital on Tuesday, Congress general secretary in-charge of Punjab, Harish Rawat said that all the pre-poll promises made by the Capt Amarinder-led-Congress government will be fulfilled soon.
Harish Rawat spoke to the media just after Punjab CM left the venue without giving a media byte. It was also being speculated that all is not well between Congress High Command and Capt Amarinder as the latter objected on being called time and again to Delhi to meet the panel.
Talking on the Capt Vs Sidhu controversy, Rawat said, “Navjot Sidhu has straight forward put his demand of fulfilling poll promises related to the Bargari incident and drugs”. He said that Sidhu has said once the above two promises are fulfilled; he’ll stand in support of the state government.
He further said Navjot Sidhu is not behind any post, neither do his statements hint the same, all he has spoken against is about sand mafia, drugs and 2015 police firing incident etc, and sought action for the same . He also said there is no personal enmity between Sidhu and Captain, and they will be together soon.
Besides, Rawat said that all those speaking against the party in public will not be spared as that’s something completely unacceptable. “May be now or in future but the party will definitely take action against them”, he said.
When asked about the meeting with Capt Amarinder, Rawat said that Captain Amarinder has assured action in the Bargari case and informed us about the recent encounters related to drugs in the state. Also, he told us how the Punjab Government in the recent past has provided free electricity to farmers, free medical services and among other help to the needy. He also presented the list of the achievements of the Congress government.
He further said to bring down the sand mafia in the state; Capt Amarinder has plans to decontrol sand mining business in the state and make sand a resource free for all.

“All the party members have said that they will fight the polls together and the party is united under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi", he said, adding that they have chalked out a list of poll promises that were fulfilled in the last four years and also those left to be fulfilled.
Moreover, when asked if Navjot Sidhu will be called to meet the panel, Rawat said, "Yes he will be called and all the differences would be resolved soon”.
