Reopening of school for classes 6 to 9 under consideration: Haryana

Classes 6 to 9 students will be allowed to visit their schools with the written permission of their parents and they can visit the school to consult and get their teachers guidance.

Haryana State Education Minister Kanwar Pal on Wednesday said that Haryana Government is considering reopening schools for Class 6 to Class 9 students to enable them to visit the school and take guidance from the teachers, in line with the Centre's decision allowing graded resumption of schools from October 15. Keeping the present view under consideration, after proper planning is laid out, the students of these classes can consult their teachers from October 15 onwards.  

The students will be allowed to visit their schools with written permission from their parents and they can consult teachers to clear their doubts and seek academic guidance.  "We are contemplating opening the schools for the students of Classes 6 to 9 to enable them to take guidance from teachers. The final decision will be taken in the coming days," Mr Pal said. 

Earlier in an order released on September 30 by the Ministry of Home Affairs, giving the states the authority to decide on dates as to when to reopen educational institutions to continue classes, thus, Haryana government is thinking on reopening the schools, as it's been seven months now that the schools have remained closed due to coronavirus outbreak.

In a partial set up, Schools in Haryana were reopened last month. This was done to enable students studying in Classes 9 to 12 to visit their institutions outside COVID-19 containment zones only. Schools were instructed to follow the guidelines as prescribed under the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) issued by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare recently.
