HMEL Guru Gobind Singh Refinery has adopted 113 schools in 59 villages across the Talwandi Sabo and Rama areas, significantly contributing to the education sector. As a result, 47 students from this block have been selected for meritorious schools. Additionally, the annual scholarship program, which provides cash scholarships, laptops, and tablets, has encouraged students to excel in subjects like Science and Mathematics.

During a scholarship distribution ceremony at the Government School of Eminence in Bangi Kalan on Friday, District Education Officer (DEO) Mr. Shivpal Goyal highlighted the positive impact of HMEL’s initiatives. The event marked the distribution of cash scholarships, laptops, and tablets to 42 meritorious students. He emphasized that the scholarship program not only nurtures a competitive spirit but also supports students in higher education.

Mr. Goyal also praised HMEL’s donation of 20 smart LED panels to the Winter NEET and JEE preparation camp at the Bathinda Meritorious School, benefiting over 600 students across Punjab. Sharing his personal experience as a former Science teacher, he commended the positive impact of STEM labs established by HMEL in government schools, including Tarkhanwala village, leading to improved Science and Mathematics performance.

In the 2023-24 session, 37 students from Class 12 and 5 students from Class 10 at Bangi Kalan School of Eminence received cash scholarships from HMEL. The event was attended by School Principal Davinder Goyal, Market Committee Chairman Tek Singh Bangi, School Management Committee member Baljinder Singh, village Sarpanch Gurpreet Singh, and HMEL’s CSR DGM Mr. Vishwomohan Prasad.

Under the scholarship program, Class 12 toppers receive ₹75,000, second-place students ₹65,000, third-place students ₹55,000, and those securing fourth place and beyond ₹40,000. Additionally, top three rankers in Class 12 receive laptops, while Class 10 toppers receive tablets and cash scholarships.

To date, HMEL has provided cash scholarships to over 1,500 students, bicycles to 16,000 students, and school bags, uniforms, and essential supplies to 21,000 students annually. These initiatives are playing a crucial role in promoting education and empowering students in rural areas.
