The 14th Hockey India Junior Men National Hockey Championship is being organized by Hockey Punjab from September 9 to September 19 at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium in Jalandhar, Giving information in this regard, Hockey Punjab President Nitin Kohli and General Secretary Amrik Singh Powar said that Hockey Punjab is conducting a national championship for the first time.
Looking at the contribution of Punjab in hockey, Hockey India has allotted this championship to Hockey Punjab. 29 teams from the states and Union Territories of the country are participating in this championship. All arrangements have been made to conduct the championship in the best possible manner. The necessary repair work of the stadium has been completed and the stadium has been Inspected by Hockey India.
Players will be selected for the Indian junior hockey team during this championship, in this regard, a committee of selectors is being sent by Hockey India. All the matches of this championship will be broadcast live on the Fancode App. Hockey India has appointed Bhopal's Mohammad Faheem as the tournament director while international umpire Gurinder Singh Sangha of Punjab will be the umpire manager to conduct the championship in the best possible way.
Along with this, umpires and technical officials have been appointed from different states. 6 matches will be played every day, which will start at 6-30 am. This championship will be played on league come not basis. During each match, the best player will be announced by the committee of experts, who will be especially honored. The formal opening of this championship will be done by S. Sukhdev Singh Managing Director AGI Infra Jalandhar on September 9 at 3:00 pm while Mr. Ashok Mittal Member Rajya Sabha will be the chief guest on September 19 and will distribute prizes to the teams.
The Organizirig Secretary of this championship will be Kulbir Singh, while Hockey India is sending Vishal Sangar as an observer. Explaining about this championship, Kulbir Singh said that 29 teams have been divided into 8 pools. One winning team from each pool will enter the quarter-finals. He said that full arrangements have been made to provide the best facilities to the players. Major sports equipment manufacturing companies of Jalandhar are going total support to organize this championship smoothly.
