Indian women's hockey player Gurjit Kaur's father Satnam Singh has requested the Punjab government to offer a government job to her from the sports quota for her spectacular performance in the bronze medal play-off match against Great Britain at the Tokyo Olympics.

"I will talk to the government regarding a SP-level (Superintendent of Police) job in Punjab Police for my daughter," Satnam Singh told the media at his village in Amritsar, after the team finished fourth after losing 3-4 to the defending champions.

Drag-flicker Gurjit Kaur's solitary goal in the 22nd minute had secured India's vistory against Australian in the quarterfinal on August 2. She is currently serving with the Indian Railways.

Her father said his daughter has to live far away from home in Allahabad to do her job.

"We want her to live with her family in Punjab," he said.

"Also, the village has been awaiting a stadium for long. We now demand that Gurjit's village should now have a stadium. Hope the government will do justice with both Gurjit and her village," said the 25-year-old hocket srat's uncle Balwinder Singh.

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Badal had on Friday asked Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh to present a cash reward of Rs 3 crore to each hockey player from Punjab who were part of the bronze-winning Indian men's team at the Tokyo Olympics.
