ICSE and ISC Board Exams: Council cancels Class 10, postpones Class 12 exams as Covid situation deteriorates

The Council of Indian School Certificate Examinations Board has announced the cancellation of ICSE (Class 10) examinations and postponed ISC (Class 12) examination. The decision was taken after requests from students and parents as the number of coronavirus cases spiked in the country.

Earlier, the CISCE board had postponed the examination of both classes and had made the Class 10th exam optional.  However, witnessing the current situation class 10 exams is cancelled and class 12 examinations will be scheduled after the covid situation improves.

While cancelling the exams the CISCE board said in a circular, “The safety and well being of our students and teaching faculty is our topmost priority and of paramount interest.” The notice was released by the Board on the official site of CISCE and the affiliated schools were asked to start in the admission process of Class 11. The schools have to prepare a schedule to conduct online classes and the syllabus to be followed for class 11 is the ISC 2023 syllabus.

The notice regarding the results read, “CISCE is committed to devising a fair and an unbiased criterion as started earlier. The criterion on which basis the results will be declared for the ICSE students and the date of results declaration will be announced by the CISCE later.”

Earlier, the ICSE examination was scheduled to be conducted from May 4 and the ISC examination were scheduled to start on April 8, 2021. CBSE has also cancelled the examination for Class 10 and has postponed Class 12 examinations.

Meanwhile, India has reported 2.59 lakh fresh cases and 1,761 fatalities in the last 24 hours. Daily India is recording more than two lakh cases taking the tally up to 1.53 crore coronavirus cases.
