A unique and unusual protest by students of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Amritsar has grabbed the attention of netizens. In a video going viral on social media platforms, students of IIM Amritsar, one of the most premium management institutes in the country, can be seen sleeping in the mess area of the institute’s hostel to protest against the management for not installing air-conditioners (ACs) in their hostel rooms.
Reportedly, the said hostel mess is one of the few places in the institute that has air conditioning and thus, the students staged a protest demanding the management to install ACs in their hostel rooms.
It is pertinent to note that a scorching heatwave is prevailing in parts of Punjab, with temperatures soaring above 45 degrees celsius in Amritsar and other parts of the state.
Amid the extreme weather conditions in parts of the country, this peculiar protest by IIM Amritsar students has piqued the interest of several netizens.
According to reports, the demand for having ACs installed in the hostel rooms have been prevalent from previous years. Several netizens empathise with the students describing the heat as unbearable and supporting their demands. A recent graduate of the university commented on one of the social media posts saying that the demand was made last year as well but no action was taken.
