The Indian men’s hockey team locked horns with Spain in the Paris 2024 Olympics hockey bronze medal match at the Yves-du-Manoir Stadium in Colombes on Thursday. INDvsESP Hockey Bronze medal match went underway at 5:30 pm IST and both India and Spain displayed aggressive gameplay in the first half. While in the quarter Spain scored a goal in penalty, India's skipper Harmanpreet Singh leveled the score moments before the end of the first half i.e. second quarter. It means Harmanpreet Singh scored his 9th of the campaign (Paris Olympics 2024). 

Harmanpreet leveled the score line during Penalty Corner which was awarded to India after ball hit Cunill’ leg inside the Spanish circle. 

For the unversed, India, fifth in the hockey rankings, suffered a narrow 3-2 loss against world No. 2 Germany in the semi-finals on Tuesday. Skipper Harmanpreet Singh and Sukhjeet Singh scored for the Tokyo 2020 bronze medallists, but it wasn’t enough.

Who is Harmanpreet Singh?

Born on 6th January 1996 at Timmowal Village near Jandiala Guru township of Amritsar in a farmers’ family, Harmanpreet Singh is the captain of the Indian Men's Hockey Team. He is an ace drag-flicker and defender. After defeating Great Britain & qualifying at the Paris Olympics semi-final, Harmanpreet Singh said that the team is giving their everything to win India their 9th gold medal in hockey at the Olympic Games.
