In a bizarre development, Bathinda Police on Thursday arrested a woman senior constable named Amandeep Kaur. Punjab Police Senior Constable Amandeep Kaur who is also famous on Instagram was arrested for smuggling heroin (Chitta) in her black Thar Jeep. The arrest took place on Badal Road, where she was intercepted by a joint operation of Vardhman Police and the Anti-Narcotics Task Force.
As per reports, upon spotting the police, Amandeep Kaur attempted to flee but was chased down and caught. She even threatened police officers during the arrest. A search of her vehicle led to the discovery of 17.71 grams of heroin hidden in the gearbox compartment of her Thar.
The accused constable, Amandeep Kaur, hails from Chakk Fateh Singh Wala village and was posted in Mansa. However, she was recently serving to the Bathinda Police Lines. Police have begun procedures to obtain her remand for further questioning.
As per the information received, Amandeep Kaur frequently supplied drugs in Sirsa, Haryana. Investigators suspect that she was also a drug user herself. Authorities have confirmed that she will undergo a dope test as part of the ongoing probe.
As per DSP City-1 Harbans Singh, police had been receiving complaints about certain officers involved in drug smuggling, including a woman constable driving a black Thar jeep and living a lavish lifestyle. Acting on credible information, a joint team of Vardhman Police and the Anti-Narcotics Bureau set up a checkpoint on Badal Road.
As a black Thar approached Ladli Chowk, police signaled it to stop. Instead of complying, the woman jumped out and attempted to escape, but was quickly apprehended by female constables and other officers present at the scene.
After the Police discovered drugs inside her car, Thar jeep was seized and sent to the police station.
During questioning, Amandeep Kaur said that she is posted as a senior constable in Punjab Police. She has been posted in Bathinda for a long time. It is alleged that she was smuggling chitta for a long time but was escaping every time under the cover of uniform. The police have registered a case against the woman constable in Canal Police Station.
