Instagram to come up with monthly subscription plan for exclusive content, check details

Instagram is working on a new subscription feature that will allow users to sell exclusive stories, live videos and more to the users. Instagram Subscriptions would soon come under the In-App Purchases section in the US and India as listed by the Meta-owned (Facebook) feature which would possibly resemble Twitter's Super Follows feature where users can generate monthly revenue by sharing content only for its subscribers. 


According to a report Instagram subscriptions plan starting at Rs. 89 that will allow creators to share subscribers content to generate revenue.  The US and India have a new 'Instagram Subscriptions' feature while the prices for US  would be in the same range from $0.99 which roughly translates to Rs. 73 to $4.99 translating to Rs. 360. The company says that this will benefit IG creators and influencers however it is not launched officially yet.


According to the analytic firm Sensor Tower, via TechCrunch, the first 'Instagram Subscriptions' in-app purchase was added on November 1 at $4.99 (Roughly Rs. 369). The feature is live at the price plan of Rs. 89 per month in App Store India. Instagram Badges used to buy gifts by the user during Live sessions is visible in this newly paid feature option.


Moreover, a subscriber button would be accessible to the followers to get access next to their favourite creator's profile for exclusive stories and live videos in the new feature launch as per Reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi who has been following the photo-sharing app's development. 


Whenever users make a comment or message, a badge will appear in front of the username to identify the subscriber user. After the subscription, the creators will  be able to see the details of their income and the expiry of the membership.


Additionally, a special member badge will reportedly appear next to the DM (Direct message) which will supposedly prioritise the message of the subscriber for the creator.

Customizing options would be available for the creators of their subscription price and name along with an option of keeping a tab on their approximate earnings, active members, and expired membership. Subscribers will  be allowed to cancel their subscription anytime they want.
