A senior Revelutionary Gaurds Commander on Tuesday said that The man who carried out a suicide bombing which killed 27 members of Iran elite Revolutionary Guards near the border with Pakistan last week was Pakistani. Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour said that the other person of the militant cell that planed the attack was also a Pakistani citizen.

Pakistan is being repeatedly blamed by Iran for sheltering militants connected with attacks in the border area. Iran has also accused regional rival Saudi Arabia of promoting violence among members of Sunni Muslim minority of Iran. However Pakistan and Arabia have denied any role in the attacks.

According to Pakpour, three Iranians from Sistan and Baluchistan province in southeast Iran were also part of the cell and two of them have been arrested. The guards had announced 3 arrests in the case on Monday.

“Today Saudi Arabia is the heart of evil in the region and the world”, said Brigadier General Hossein Salami on Tuesday at a ceremony commemorating those who were killed inthe attack.

Remnants of the car used in the suicide attack were given to the police, Pakpour said. Once the owner of the car was identified, intelligence and security forces carried out arrests. he militants had planned to carry out multiple attacks, informed Pakpour.
