As Punjab walks into elections in early 2022, a blast rocked the border state killing one person and injuring four others. The blast has raised security concerns in the poll-bound state, with authorities observing the constant smuggling of drugs, weapons and explosives from neighbouring countries into Punjab.

Babbar Khalsa International is said to be behind the recent Ludhiana Court blast. According to top officials, the attack was carried out by the outfit's leader Wadhawa Singh with the help of local gangster Harvinder Singh, aka Rinda Singh.

ISI conspiracy

According to sources, ISI is coordinating and facilitating the smuggling of weapons and explosives into Punjab by foreign-based elements of proscribed terrorist organisations such as Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) and International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF). Local gangsters, drug and weapon smugglers are involved in the plan of causing panic in the state.

Numerous tiffin bombs and drones are being discovered in Punjab, ahead of crucial elections. Over 25 drones have been seized by security forces in the border areas, however, authorities believe explosives in high amounts have already been smuggled into Punjab.

As per the sources, the ISI chief had met Babbar Khalsa International’s leader Wadhawa Singh in early December. In the meeting, the pro-Khalistani organisation was conveyed to conduct violent activities in Punjab in order to get financial backing.

Meanwhile, Babbar Khalsa is deep-rooted in Punjab and has numerous sleeping cells, which can negatively impact the state’s environment in near future.

Politics and Pakistan

As the blast in Ludhiana rocked the poll-bund state, Charanjit Channi Government is likely to come under the radar. Punjab PCC president, Navjot Singh Sidhu is tight-lipped over the Pakistan angle behind Ludhiana court blast. Notably, Sidhu earlier called the Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Singh his elder brother.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Channi is yet to speak on the involvement of Pakistan based terrorist organisations trying to cause chaos in Punjab amid elections.
