After a one-year switch to a virtual format, the Game Awards were back in live and in-person style. This year's Game Awards featured more than 50 games. It Takes Two was the night's big winner, taking home three prizes, including Game of the Year 2021 (GOTY), Best Family Game, and Best Multiplayer Game.

What is Game Awards?

Geoff Keighley, a former journalist who founded the show in 2014, produces and hosts the ceremony, which celebrates the video game industry and serves as a promotional vehicle for upcoming game-related media.

The event is attended by guests and nominees who are video game developers, streamers, esports athletes and industry executives. This year's Game Awards served as a display for new titles as well as a celebration of some of the greatest from 2021.

Big stories from Game Awards 2021

At Game Awards 2021, Sonic Frontiers made its debut. To fans surprise, the game appears almost identical to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Another big news is Among Us is getting a surprise VR release and Elden Ring has received a new trailer.

In addition, we got our first glimpse at the new Wonder Woman and Star Wars games.

Alan Wake 2's long-awaited sequel has finally arrived. According to the teaser, the game will be a survival horror game, unlike the original, which was an action game. It will be released in 2023.
