In a move to boost security and enhance the status of law and order in the city, 32 high surveillance cameras were installed in 10 different prime locations in Jalandhar.
The installation of cameras is part of a mega 1200 cameras to be installed under the Smart City project at an accumulated cost of 78 crores.
The project was launched by Local Government Minister Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar. After receiving a guard of honor at local Police Lines, the Local Government Minister inaugurated the Integrated Command Control Center inside the said complex.
He said that project is to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 78 crores under which 1200 high-resolution CCTV cameras of six types would be installed at 188 different locations in the city. Dr. Nijjar said that the Center comprising of major information communication & technology modules for CCTV surveillance, an intelligent traffic management system with red light violation detection, and Automatic Number Plate Recognition.
Besides making cameras operational in the city the minister also launched Shri guru Nanak dev public digital library & PWI management system portal.
The Minister was accompanied by a set of other dignitaries on the occasion including MLA Jalandhar Central Raman Arora, MLA Kartarpur Balkar Singh, MLA Jalandhar West Sheetal Angural, Commissioner of Police Gursharan Singh Sandhu, Deputy Commissioner Jaspreet Singh, DCP Headquarters Vatsala Gupta, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Devender Singh and other senior officers of civil and police administration.
