In a bid to ensure effective, responsive, and transparent Policing, the Commissioner of Police Jalandhar Mr. Swapan Sharma on Thursday conducted a surprise check in Police stations of the city. The Commissioner of Police undertook checking at Police Divisions number 7 and 8.
During the checking, the Commissioner of Police checked the pendency of cases in these Police stations and asked the officers to clear them. He said that any sort of inordinate delay in dealing with the cases is unwarranted and undesirable. Mr Swapan Sharma said that such laxity on the part of the Police officials will not be tolerated at any cost.
Setting the deadlines for the cops to clear the pending cases, the Commissioner of Police also said that all the cases should be brought to their logical conclusion. He said that the Police are committed to maintain law and order in the city and no one will be allowed to take law into their own hands. Mr Swapan Sharma categorically said that any sort of callousness by the Police officers in dealing with these cases would be dealt with strictly.
The Commissioner of Police also directed that the ACPs and ADCPs will be held accountable if the challan checking was not held within 72 hours. He said that the checking is not aimed at fault finding but the real purpose is to assess the situation at grass root level to facilitate people. Meanwhile, as a humanitarian gesture, the Commissioner of Police also asked about personal issues if any being faced by them.
