As the cases related to Corona Virus started surging in the district, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Mr Gurpreet Singh Bhullar evolved a holistic strategy to combat this pandemic head-on by adopting twin strategy.

As part of this strategy, the Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police asked the Health Department to launch an aggressive drive for Swab Throat Tests in the district, so that the untraced or undetected COVID 19 patients could be detected and kept in isolation, thus helping to curb the spread of the virus.

Likewise, they also constituted a hi-powered committee under the leadership of Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr Vishesh Sarangal with the officers of Civil and Police administration as its members.

The Committee was entrusted the task of identifying the contacts of identified COVID 19 positive patients, by use of technology and human intelligence so that they could be tested and if found positive could be isolated for checking the spread of the pandemic.

The Committee which operated 24X7 gave the desired results by tracing 709 contacts of the Corona positive patients in the district and ensuring their tests by Health department, due to which the tally final touched the figure of more than 60.

It was hard work of the committee that chains of major COVID 19 patients were established and subsequently after the tests by health department the positive patients were isolated as they could have become a potential threat to the society.

The meticulous working of committee ensured that more than 60 COVID 19 positive patients who were in contact Mr Baldev Singh, Mr Deepak Sharma, Mrs Kavita Mahajan, late Mrs Kuljit Kaur, Mr Jasbir Singh and Mrs Swarnkanta were able to come into the light.

Had the committee not done its job meticulously most of these patients would have roamed freely in the society thereby proving to be a major threat to the lives, people, besides enhancing the numbers of COVID 19 affected patients manifolds.

The committee was still on its mission to trace even the last COVID 19 affected patient in the district.

Meanwhile, complementing the Committee for its hard work and meticulous planning the Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that in this war against Corona Virus, the committee yeoman role would go down into annals of the history book.

Both the officers said that district administration in general and committee, in particular, would carry on its efforts until COVID 19 was completely eradicated from the district. They also exhorted the people to stay home for supplementing the untiring efforts being made by the administration.
