In a shocking development, the body of the deceased found in a bed box in Jalandhar was misidentified by the police. It was instead of a retired army officer from Barnala, Yograj Khattri (50). Vinod Kumar alias Nakul turned out to be still alive.
The accused, Himachali Devi had earlier told the police that the person who died was her live-in partner Vinod. The reason, as per the accused, was that Vinod used to call her his wife, so Himachali killed him by poisoning his liquor. After this, along with his friend, she disposed of Vinod’s body. When Barnala police reached the house where the dead body was found while investigating, the entire case came to light.
As per police sources, Himachali Devi bought around 30 kg of salt from several shops in Gadaipur before the murder to help decompose the body without a foul odour. But her plan did not work, and the foul smell caused the case to be cracked wide open. Neighbours informed the police about the foul smell, and after investigation, Himachali and her accomplice, Sanoj were arrested. However, her reason for killing Yograj is currently unknown.
Gadaipur Bed Box Case:
Joint Police Commissioner of Jalandhar City Police, Sandeep Sharma said that on May 3, people living in Gadaipur area had informed the police about foul smell of a rotting corpse in the area. When the police reached the spot, the dead body of a person was found in a bed box in the house. The deceased was initially identified as Vinod Kumar alias Nakul Kumar. The police had taken Himachali Devi into custody at the spot. After an investigation, the house in which the body was found turned out to be of Sanoj Kumar, an accomplice to the murder, who has also been arrested.
