Jalandhar Commissioner of Police passes strict action against violators of night curfew

CP has asked the cops to ensure people adhere to Covid-19 protocols, to review law and order. CP has also directed the cops to increase vigil in the field.

Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar on Tuesday has ordered the field officers to take strict action against those violating the night curfew imposed by the Punjab Government to contain the spread of novel coronavirus besides ensuring that their respective areas must be crime-free. 

The directives were issued by the Commissioner of Police, who was accompanied by DCPs Gurmeet Singh, Naresh Dogra, and Arun Saini during a meeting of all additional deputy commissioners of police (ADCPs), Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), and SHOs of the Commissionerate police at police lines on Tuesday. 

Bhullar issued stringent instructions for all field officers to ensure that there must not be any movement of individuals and non-essential activities between 10 pm to 5 am on roads. He said that all the hotels, restaurants, marriage palaces and other hospitality units must be closed by 9.30 pm. 

He asked the officers/officials to ensure the people strictly adhere to the Covid protocols including wearing masks and maintenance of physical distancing whenever they venture outside. 

He said that the violators of the night curfew/Covid protocols would be dealt with an iron hand. He added that the Commissionerate police would leave no stone unturned for ensuring the curfew was imposed effectively to fight COVID 19 pandemic.

He stressed the field officers must increase vigil in the field round the clock and told them to carry out systematic and in-depth field visits into their jurisdictions. He also ordered the officers to take all possible steps to check the activities of the criminals/habitual offenders effectively and pursue strict legal action against them.

He said that for any sort of lapse the officer of the concerned area would be held accountable.

Commissioner of Police said that the officers have been performing their duty zealously despite challenging circumstances. He further asked the officers to continue this duty amid Covid 19 pandemic, which has emerged as a major threat across the globe.
