In a unique initiative, Jalandhar District Administration on Tuesday launched a unique initiative to encourage and recognise youths who will be casting their votes for the first time in Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Responding positively to the efforts being made by the district administration to encourage young voters to exercise their right to vote during the Lok Sabha Elections-2024, hotel, restaurant owners, and managers of Jalandhar city voluntarily came forward to offer 25% discount to young voters in meal price on poll day.
District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal while appreciating the initiative being taken by them during the meeting with hotel/restaurant owners/managers said that “ with this step taken by them young voters especially 'first-time voters' will be encouraged to exercise their right to vote”.
He said that the district administration was running a large-scale awareness campaign to cross the target of 70 % voting by ensuring maximum voter participation during the Lok Sabha elections 2024.
He said that there are about 40,000 young voters aged 18-19 years in the district, where the administration is giving special attention to encourage them to use their democratic rights. He said that this initiative was taken by the hotel/restaurant owners/managers and will prove helpful in ensuring active participation of youth in elections.
On June 1, 2024, after voting on polling day, young voters will be able to avail 25 % discount on dining at THESE selected hotels/restaurants/cafes/bakeries etc, by showing their inked finger-

Participating in the meeting, hotel owners expressed their happiness to be a part of the voter awareness campaign being conducted by the administration and announced a 25 % discount on food in their hotels/restaurants to young voters who vote voluntarily on polling day.
