Hundreds of farmers are protesting against the Punjab Government called by the United Kisan Morcha. On Tuesday, the Jalandhar-Ludhiana Highway had to be closed after protestors sat on the highway during their protest against the Punjab State Government in order to fulfill their demands.

The latest farmer protest is organized by the United Kisan Morcha. The organizations demand an increase in the sugar cane fee and deal with other important issues.

The demonstration is expected to disrupt normal traffic and has prompted police to make extensive preparations to control the situation.   The call for protest comes amid growing discontent among farmers, particularly over the Punjab government's agricultural pricing policy.

United Kisan Morcha, a union of various farmers trade unions, were at the forefront of such protests and pushed for the rights and welfare of farmers.

BKU Doaba state president Manjit Singh Rai reportedly appealed to the farmers to join forces and actively participate in the protest near Dhanawal Gate on the Jalandhar-Ludhiana highway. The protest is not only focused on demands for increased sugarcane quotas but also includes broader concerns about agricultural policy and farmers' welfare.

The decision to block an important highway like Jalandhar-Ludhiana underlines the urgency and intensity of farmers' complaints.  The protest aims to draw attention to the challenges faced by farmers, especially those related to a fair price for their produce, which directly affects their livelihoods.

The demand for higher sugarcane tariffs is at the heart of this protest, as farmers say the increase is necessary to preserve their livelihoods and the economic viability of agriculture as a profession.  The police anticipate the scale of the demonstration and have taken the necessary measures to manage traffic diversions and ensure the safety of road users.

Authorities are eager to prevent bad incidents and facilitate farmer's worries. As the protest progresses, it should attract the attention of various departments, including political leaders and policymakers. The complaints highlight the complexity of agricultural policy and the urgent need for a comprehensive and fair approach to address the challenges facing the farming community.
