A wave of mourning has spread in the house of former MLA Sarabjit Singh Makkar. Sarabjit’s son, Kanwar has reportedly passed away. According to the information received, a few days ago, the elder son Kanwar had undergone surgery after which his health started deteriorating. It is being told that he was admitted to the ICU in Delhi due to liver disease, where doctors declared him dead.
Sarabjit Singh Makkar is a BJP leader and is currently the constituency in-charge of Jalandhar Cantt. He is also a former MLA from the Adampur constituency. Makkar had left Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) for BJP in 2021. Makkar was considered close to the Badals till he was replaced as constituency incharge of SAD with former MLA Jagbir Singh Brar, who had resigned from Congress. The family is aggrieved by the loss. Sarabjit Makkar shared a post on his facebook account grieving the loss of his son with the caption, "Nahi bhulna vicchoda putra tera"(will not forget your departure, son). There is a wave of mourning in the ex-MLA's home.
