In a major development, the efforts by Jalandhar Central Halka Incharge Nitin Kohli have recently stopped a protest, which was supposed to be conducted by the shopkeepers of Phagwara Gate.
According to the reports, the protest was planned against the Punjab Government and Powercom and was scheduled for July 7, 2025, Monday. The above-mentioned protest was organized by Baljit Singh Ahluwalia and Amit Sehgal, the heads of the electronic market.
The shopkeepers' main complaint was the low or inconsistent electricity supply, including low voltage, which makes it difficult for customers to test appliances before purchasing.
According to reports and statements from shopkeepers who were supported in participating in the march, they presented their concerns to the department multiple times, but their concerns were not addressed. As a result, they decided to plan a protest.
However, before the protest began, Jalandhar Central Halka Incharge Nitin Kohli reached the location and made sure that their demands and needs were heard and addressed properly, as well as on time. He contacted the Electricity Department by telephone, informed them about the issue, and requested that it be resolved as soon as possible.
Following this, the protest was called out.
