In a significant breakthrough under its zero-tolerance policy on organized crime, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police apprehended two notorious gang members linked to the Kaushal-Bambiha criminal network during a cross-firing incident. The arrest operation, led by Jalandhar Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma, unfolded as police moved in to recover illegal firearms from the suspects.
According to Commissioner Sharma, the cross-firing erupted when the suspects attempted to evade arrest. Police personnel acted swiftly, ensuring no civilians were harmed during the exchange. The operation resulted in the seizure of two pistols and five live cartridges, which were in the possession of the suspects.
The arrested individuals are wanted in at least four criminal cases, with multiple FIRs registered against them under the Arms Act, kidnapping, and attempt to murder. “This operation underscores our commitment to rooting out organized crime from Jalandhar. The public’s safety is our utmost priority, and we will continue to act with strict vigilance,” stated Commissioner Sharma.
This successful operation is part of ongoing efforts by the Jalandhar Police to dismantle criminal networks and uphold law and order in the city. Further investigations are underway to trace other associates linked to the gang and bring them to justice.
