Punjab Vigilance Bureau has been intensifying its investigation in the Raman Arora Corruption Case. Vigilance got a breakthrough after it arrested Jalandhar Central MLA's close aide, Mahesh Makhija, from a factory in Phagwara. The agency is expecting to unravel Raman Arora's corruption empire by questioning Makhija. Talking about the latest development, sources have revealed that the name of a big travel agent of Jalandhar has come up in the Raman Arora case.
The travel agent is now under the scanner as he is accused of helping the MLA to invest his black money in Dubai. However, Vigilance Officials have not confirmed it yet, as it is a matter of investigation. Sources further informed that the travel agent is said to be from Charanjit Pura, Jalandhar. Also, he is said to be a childhood friend of Mahesh Makhija. Notably, Makhija and the travel agent reside near each other.
It is alleged that Mukhija handed over a bag full of money to his childhood friend in his car immediately after MLA Raman Arora's arrest. Vigilance suspects that the agent was also working for the MLA through Makhija.
Mahesh Makhija's name was recently added to the FIR in the corruption case under which MLA Raman Arora has been arrested. Along with Makhija, the names of Raju Madaan (MLA's daughter's father-in-law) and Raja Arora (MLA's son) were also added.
What more has been revealed in the Raman Arora case?
While Vigilance continues to question Makhija, sources have revealed that Makhega initially claimed the money used in illegal transactions was from his own business. However, under separate questioning and subsequent confrontation with Raman Arora, it was revealed that the MLA allegedly funneled money into benami properties. It has also been revealed that Makhija used to manage affairs at police stations.
