'Guddi' aka Jaya Bachchan is celebrating her 73rd birthday, was born today in 1948 in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. 

Jaya who is also an MP was a popular actress during the 70s and had done films like Silsila, Guddi, Sholay, Paa, Chupke Chupke and Zanjeer. She was seen less on-screen after marriage, as got busy with taking care of the family and kids Abhishek and Shweta. 

Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan will complete the silver jubilee of their successful marriage in the next two years. They are a perfect example of inspiration to modern generation couples.


There is an interesting anecdote related to their marriage which Big B shared in a chat show. 

On Jaya's birthday let us take a glance at the story. 

Amitabh told, “Those days I and Jaya were working in the film ‘Zanjeer’. The entire team decided that if the film will hit the box office with success then we all will go on a trip to London. As I reached home I shared the news with my father, as a reply he asked with whom I will be going on the trip. And as soon as he heard Jaya’s name he said that I will not allow you to go with Jaya without getting married. I could not say no to him, wedding preparations started. ‘Zanjeer’ was a hit and we went to London together after the marriage in a hurry.” 


Amitabh and Jaya have come a long way, sharing the thick and thin of life, but they made sure that they make their marriage filled with happiness and love.

Back in time, Amitabh was linked with actress Rekha, and the linkup rumour was making headlines every single day on the tabloid. An already married man in an extramarital affair! to date, no one knows the linkup is true or false. However, Jaya Bachchan tackled this situation uniquely and constructively. 

The couple together was last seen in Deepak Savant’s Bhojpuri film 'Ganga Devi' in 2012, and their last Bollywood film was Karan Johar’s 'Kabhi Khushi… Kabhi Gham' in 2001.
