Following the recent bizarre development - which took place outside the comedian Kapil Sharma’a café in Canada - Khalistani terrorist Harjit Singh Laddi has taken responsibility for the shooting. However, the preliminary information has outlined no one was injured during this act.

It is to be noted that Kapil’s café was inaugurated just a few days before this incident took place.

Kapil Sharma has named the place Kap’s Café, and it is the comedian's first step into the restaurant industry, along with his wife, Ginni Chatrath - who is also involved in the venture. The eatery place has a soft launch and is located in Surrey, British Columbia.

A social media user named Ritesh Lakhi, who calls himself a journalist, shared the Kapil Sharma Restaurant Firing Video on X on Wednesday night, Canada time. The video showed that the man was sitting in a car and fired at least nine shots at a window of the café.

According to reports, Laddi is one of National Investigation Agency’s most wanted terrorists and is associated with the Babbar Khalsa International. Notably, he has outlined that he ordered the shooting as he was offended by some of the statements made by the comedian.

However, an investigation into the matter is still ongoing, and Police and forensic teams rushed to the spot immediately after the shooting.

Laddi is most wanted by the NIA for killing Vikas Prabhakar alias Vikas Bagga, who was the leader of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) who was shot at his shop in Rupnagar district in April 2024.

A recent report by Canada’s top intelligence agency, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, has outlined that Khalistani terrorists have been working to perform violent acts against India from the country. The recent press report by the agency read, “Khalistani extremists continue to use Canada as a base for the promotion, fundraising or planning of violence primarily in India.”

While monitoring these terror activities, India has been continuously raising concerns and has also highlighted that Canada has not been taking stricter measures to tackle the threat. While emphasizing the matter, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, last year, said, “Our biggest problem right now is in Canada. Because in Canada, the party in power and other parties have given these kinds of extremism, separatism, and advocates of violence a certain legitimacy in the name of free speech. When you tell them something, their answer is 'no, we are a democratic country, and it is free speech.'”
