Archer Atanu Das’s nail-biting entry to 1/8th Elimination round in 2020 Tokyo Olympics

Born on April 5, 1992, in West Bengal, the Indian Archer Atanu Das is currently in Tokyo taking part in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics as Recurve man’s Individual and Team events. He has defeated Chinese Taipei’s Yu-Cheng Dang in the 1/32 Elimination round by 6-4, and later on he made a shocking finish at the Yumenoshima Ranking Field to the 1/8 Elimination round in the men’s individual archery, by knocking out South Korea’s Oh Jin Hyekin.

His world ranking on 22 July 2021 was 9th and he made his debut in 2008. In Columbia, he along with his wife Deepika Kumari got a bronze medal in the 2013 World Cup Mixed Team event. He started his practice at the age of 14 and his coach was Mithu Da. He moved to tata Archery Academy where he was coached by Lim Chae Wong, a Korean coach.

He has worn a lot of medals.

With his recent win against Oh Jin Hyekin, he has sailed to the 1/8th elimination round and his next match is on Saturday, July 31, 2021, which is against Japan’s Takaharu Furukawa.
