'I left Congress because..': Ravneet Bittu's big statement on inclusion in Modi 3.0 Govt cabinet from Punjab

BJP leader Ravneet Bittu on Sunday attended PM Modi's tea party at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg. Bittu confirmed that he will be taking oath as a cabinet-rank minister in the Modi Government 3.0. Notably, Bittu lost in Lok Sabha Elections 2024 and despite that, he got a call from Delhi. Now, Ravneet Bittu while talking to a news wire revealed why he left the Congress despite winning as an MP in the last three elections. A new government will form in India under Narendra Modi’s leadership for the third consecutive time. However, this time in the Lok Sabha elections, BJP did not manage to acquire a single seat from Punjab. BJP also does not have any seat from Punjab in the Rajya Sabha. 

Speaking to newswire, Bittu said, "Whether it is PM Modi, Amit Shah or others, all of them gave me their trust. There was no demand when I left Congress, but I did not want to sit in the opposition after winning for the third time. BJP made my dream true. They told me that Punjab is a priority for them. Despite we did not win in Punjab, it is only me whom they gave a ministry."

Who is Ravneet Singh Bittu?

Ravneet Bittu is the grandson of former Punjab CM Beant Singh, and was MP for 3 consecutive terms. He was the head of Youth Congress, was also a close aide of Rahul Gandhi in Congress.

He won Lok Sabha elections from Sri Anandpur Sahib on Congress ticket in 2009 and won Lok Sabha elections from Ludhiana seat on Congress ticket in 2014 and 2019. Ravneet Bittu left Congress on March 26 and went to Delhi and joined BJP in presence of Vinod Tawde and Vishal Singh.

Bittu was arrested earlier this year after he locked the main offices of the Ludhiana Municipal corporation in protest of the “inefficiency of ruling AAP government” and “widespread corruption in Ludhiana’s civic body.”
