Nature is absolutely unpredictable, to the extent, it amazes with its mesmerizing beauty at the same time it will stun you with any misfortunes that you would have never imagined. The same has happened recently in of the most iconic landmark monument located at the heart of Brazil.

Fortunately, the availability of the camera got us to believe that something of this sort had happened, or else it could have been had to imagine. Christ the Redeemer, the famous statue in Brazil was hit by a bolt of lightning. Images of the statue being struck by the lightning are being circulated on social media and people are mesmerised.

The incident took place on February 10. A bolt of lightning struck the head of the statue. The image of the lightning was posted on Twitter by a user @Rainmaker1973. The mind-blowing image was captured by Fernando Braga. Since posting, it has gone viral with over 6 million views. The image has been liked more than 183k times.

Ever since it caught the Netizen’s attention the comment section was flooded with comments and reactions from those observing this. One stated, "At this point Zeus or Thor. Jokes apart, this is a quite recurrent event, being the highest point, it's just the luck of having someone doing photography at the right time." Another wrote, "Wow! Oh just WOW!"

A third person stated, "What a shot! Thanks for sharing." While most people were keen on appreciating the pictures, others cracked jokes. The other one took to moment to write "I don't think he's rising again after that." Another one quipped, "Mom! Thor and Jesus are at it again!”

The statue, situated in Brazil's Rio De Janeiro, is visited by nearly two million people every year. It is not the first such case, the statue has been struck by lightning in the past too. In 2014, a bolt of lightning damaged the thumb of the statue.
