Masked robbers riding a scooter targeted a liquor store in PPR Market, Jalandhar this Tuesday night. The robbers tried to flee after stealing money from the store, a gold chain, and money from two customers who were inside, but were chased and caught by a mob during their escape.
After the thieves were apprehended and reported to the authorities, it was discovered that Prince Baba was one of the thieves in custody. Prince Baba was most wanted by the police in many robbery cases. In this instance, a shop employee also suffered injuries.
Around 10 p.m., while working with his friend Rajiv in the shop to make a list, Dharminder, the shop's employee, reported that three people arrived on an Activa out of which two entered the shops wearing a mask. Dharminder gestured to the cash box after being threatened by the robbers. Seven thousand rupees were stolen by the robbers from the cash box, but not before they robbed two customers out of their cash and gold chains.
The robbers used a sharp object to strike Rajiv in the head. The moment the robbers took off, others began to pursue them. The robbers entered the streets to lose their pursuers. When the accused arrived to Urban Estate Phase 2, they dropped their Activa and prepared to flee by requesting a lift when they noticed that someone was after them. However, they were captured.
People beat up the robbers badly and then informed the police. ASI Mohinder Singh of Police Station 7 has put the suspects under custody. Investigation revealed that among the robbers were Paramjeet Singh alias Prince Baba and his partner Neeraj who were absconding in several robbery cases around the city for quite some time.
On the other hand, ASI Mohinder Singh says that the robbers taken into custody have to be interrogated. First, the injured employee Rajiv needed treatment and therefore has been admitted to the hospital. Witnesses say that the robbers were armed with firearms however the police has not yet confirmed whether any pistol etc. has been recovered from him. However, the police admit that Prince Baba is in their custody.
