The effects of the cold felt this year cannot be overstated. People have been shivering under temperatures never felt before in years. So cold is the weather that some Farmer leaders travelling in Sangam Express’ AC coach lit a bonfire in the train itself. A video of the leaders warming themselves at the ‘Angithi’ was sent to Railway Minister as well. The smoke from the bonfire caused a stir in the train at the Kanpur Railway Station. On the orders of the Railway Minister, Deputy CDM, GRP and RPF police forces stopped the train at Platform and started investigating the matter.
According to the railway officials, Kisan Union’s National VPs Kushal Pal Arya and Gaurav Pal Arya were traveling along with more than 100 of their supporters in the AC coach of the Sangam Express train. One of his supporters lit the bonfire when they felt the cold. The smoke rising from the bonfire caused a stir among the passengers and the bonfire was put out by the railway authorities. The farmer leaders were told off by the authorities and the train was allowed to move.
The train was stopped at Platform 5, where the authorities boarded the train to detain the culprit. However, neither the accused nor the fire was found. The Kisan Union was going to Prayagraj according to sources. The Prayagraj Police has been informed of this incident. If the accused is caught, further action is likely to be taken.
