In a heartbreaking development, a student from Haryana studying at Lovely Professional University (LPU) late Thursday night allegedly jumped from the hostel's ninth floor and died by suicide. The deceased student has been identified as Mayank and he was a resident of Haryana. The incident took place on Thursday at 10 pm. The deceased student was living in a hostel on the ninth floor of LPU. Lovely Professional University is situated on the Jalandhar-Phagwara Highway.
As per reports, as soon as the student fell from the 9th floor, a loud thud sound was heard, following which many students arrived at the spot and found Mayank lying unconscious in a pool of blood. Following that, the officials present at the university immediately called for an ambulance and took Mayank to the hospital, where the doctors declared him dead. After which the hospital informed the police of Satnampur police station about the matter.
SHO Gaurav Dheer of Satnampura police station was quoted saying that the police are investigating various angles including suicide. At present, the body of Mayank has been taken into custody by the police and sent to Civil Hospital Phagwara for post-mortem. Reports further suggest that Phagwara Kapurthala Police informed the family of the deceased about the matter. At the same time, based on their statements, the police will soon take action in the matter. The Police are investigating the case from all angles including accident & suicide.
