In a tragic development, a Law student from Lovely Professional University (LPU) tragically passed away after his Bullet bike was hit by a speeding car. Bhavya Kashyap (23), was travelling from LPU to Ludhiana when he was hit by a Swift car, which then proceeded to overturn into a dirty canal on the side of the road. The accident occurred near Goraya. Bhavya was declared dead on the spot.
According to reports, Bhavya had gone to the university for some urgent on Sunday. Bhavya was returning from LPU to Ludhiana on a Bullet. During this, a Swift car hit him and then proceeded to fall into a dirty drain on the roadside. The police have sent the body for postmortem. The family is mourning after the death of their only son.
Sub Inspector Gurdeep Singh posted at Goraya police station said that the accident took place around 4:30 pm on Sunday evening. The police control room was informed at 4:45 pm. Road Safety Force teams reached the spot and tried to bandage Bhavya's wounds, but unfortunately he had already succumbed.
The SHO and investigating officer of Goraya police station reached the spot at around 5 pm and immediately arrested the accused from the spot. He has been identified as Kamal, a resident of Patiala. A case has been registered against him under various sections of the IPC including section 304-A (culpable homicide not amounting to murder).
Sub Inspector Gurdeep Singh said that Bhavy's father is posted as an officer in Indian Railways and he was his only son. Bhavya was studying law in Lovely Professional University. Kamal, who was travelling in a Swift car with Patiala number, was going from Gurdaspur to Patiala. According to the people present on the spot, the car rider was driving at a very high speed and lost control. Kamal also sustained minor injuries from the incident.
