Ludhiana DC Himanshu Jain on Wednesday addressed the media and confirmed that the administration received a bomb threat via Email. DC Jain informed that at around 8:45 am, they received an email in which the sender of the message alleged that RDX had been planted in the office. As a result, the Commissioner of Police in Ludhiana and Cyber Cell were informed. Thereafter, the CP sent a team to the Ludhiana DC office to carry out an investigation and searches. Below is what Ludhiana DC said-
"We received an email in the morning that RDX has been planted at the DC Office. We informed the CP Office regarding this. A team of Police is also checking the Ludhiana DC Office. We also informed the cyber cell so that the email sender can be traced. An investigation is going on. We received the mail around 8:45 am. The authenticity of the mail has been checked by the Police," said Ludhiana DC Himanshu Jain.
As per the information received, an unidentified individual sent the threat via email, claiming that a bomb had been planted at the DC office. Authorities are now investigating the IP address from which the email originated, as part of a broader cyber and security probe.
Talking to True Scoop, Ludhiana Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma called the email to blow up the DC Office a hoax. As a precautionary measure, bomb disposal squads and dog squads were deployed at the DC office to conduct thorough checks. The office premises were also scanned, entry to the building was restricted, and the security was heightened as well.
