Two criminals were shot in a midnight encounter between the police and the criminals. The encounter took place at around 3.30 am on Friday. According to sources, the criminals had fired on the police team which had reached Ram Enclave in Ludhiana for a raid. In retaliatory firing, two of the miscreants were allegedly shot in the leg. However, no official has confirmed this information yet.
At around 3:30 in the night, the police of Haibowal police station had reportedly received information from an informer that two accused of an attempted murder case were hiding in Ram Enclave. When the police raided, the criminals started to flee from the hideout on seeing the police. The police surrounded the criminals, demanding their surrender but instead they opened fire on the police. Taking action, the police retaliated and overpowered the criminals, identified as Ravinder and Satinder.
The criminals have been admitted to the civil hospital by the police. It is being told that Ravinder has been shot on the right leg while Satinder was shot on the left leg. A case of attempted murder was registered against both the accused in Haibowal police station18 June 2024. The accused were absconding in this case and the police had gone to Ram Enclave to arrest the miscreants.
Details of the encounter:
The police personnel of Haibowal police station were patrolling in a government vehicle and were on their way to the Haider Enclave Colony when they met their informer under the Jassiyan railway line bridge. He blew the whistle on the two unknown individuals accused in a fight and vandalism case outside Sahil Kanda's house in Chandra Nagar on June 17-18, Ravinder Singh and Rajinder Singh Ladian. He informed that both are located near an empty plot near Ram Enclave.
The police team promptly reached the spot and identified both the individuals. Both were asked if they were also with Sahil Kanda when the vandalism was done outside his house. Then the miscreants pulled out their pistols hidden in their pants. The police personnel reacted and defended themselves by taking cover behind their vehicle. Rajinder Singh alias Dega fired into the air and the police retaliated. Ravinder was shot on the right leg and his companion on the left leg. Police has currently registered a case and admitted the accused to the Civil Hospital.
