A speeding trolley rammed into a bus from behind on the National Highway near Khanna, Ludhiana. The bus was reportedly carrying labour from UP and Bihar. Following the hit from the trolley, the bus reportedly collided with a transformer nearly 150 meters away from the site of the collision. About 25 passengers have been injured in the incident according to Khanna Police station-2 SHO Gurmeet Singh.
According to information received, nearly half of the labourers were supposed to get off the bus at Khanna. Around 12:30 am, the bus stopped at the cut in front of Guru Amardas Market on the National Highway. Some labourers had just gotten off when a speeding trolley came from behind and collided with the bus. The noise of the collision was heard some considerable distance away, along with the screams of the panicked bus passengers. The bus then travelled approximately 150 meters away, causing a huge explosion after colliding with a transformer.
Hearing the sound of the loud explosion, parking contractor Baljinder Singh Titu, who was present in the nearby Civil Hospital, reached the spot along with his colleagues. Seeing the situation there, Titu called an ambulance which took the injured to the hospital. Information was also given to the police control room. SHO Gurmeet Singh of city police station-2 reached the spot along with his team to get the road cleared. The injured are currently undergoing treatment at the Civil Hospital.
