Ludhiana, February 17, a 26-year-old youth from Ludhiana, Gurvinder Singh, was arrested by the police upon his arrival at Amritsar airport after being deported from the United States. Gurvinder, the son of a police officer has been wanted in several snatching cases registered against him in Punjab.
According to police officials, after committing these crimes, Gurvinder managed to flee the country by using forged documents and entered the USA illegally. However, amid the ongoing deportation of undocumented Indian nationals from the United States, he was immediately taken into custody by the police.
Following his arrest, Gurvinder was presented before the court today. Authorities are now investigating further to determine the extent of his involvement in criminal activities and how he managed to escape the country despite being wanted by law enforcement.
According to police officials, three cases have been registered against Gurvinder Singh under various sections of the law, including robbery and mobile snatching. The Jamalpur police station had issued warrants for his arrest. He had been absconding since the cases were filed, and efforts were being made to locate him.
The arrest has created a stir in his family, as wedding celebrations were underway in their home. However, the family members refused to comment on the situation. Meanwhile, the police have stated that the agents who helped him obtain forged documents and facilitated his illegal migration abroad are also being investigated. Legal action will be taken against them as well.
Jamalpur Police Station In-charge Inderjit Singh confirmed the arrest and stated that further legal proceedings are underway. He also mentioned that the accused’s father is currently serving as a police officer at Basti Jodhewal Police Station. The police are actively investigating the role of agents involved in forging documents for illegal immigration, and action will be taken against them soon.
