In response to the recent ammonia gas leak at an ice factory near Domoria Bridge, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal has ordered a Magistrate Enquiry into the incident. The enquiry, led by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Jalandhar-1, will submit a detailed report within 15 days.
The investigation will determine the cause of the gas leak, identify those responsible, and assess any lapses in safety protocols by the factory management. It will also recommend preventive measures to avert future incidents.
The DC has also directed the Factories Department and Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) to inspect similar industrial units to ensure safety compliance. The affected area remains cordoned off for public safety.
