In a chilling development, a 62-year-old mahout was crushed to death by an elephant in Kerala's Idukki. The mahout was crushed to death and his multiple bones were broken after the elphant stood on him. Following the mahout's death, the authorities found out that the incident took place in an illegal elephant safari center in Idukki. As a result, the forest department has filed a case against the illegal elephant safari centre in Idukki. Furthermore, the forest department issued a stop memo after a mahout was stomped to death by an elephant there on Thursday.
As per reports, the mahout has been identified as Balakrishnan. Balakrishnan, 62, hailed from Neeleswaram. He was killed by a cow elephant at Kerala Farm, a private elephant safari centre at Kallar, near Adimaly, in Idukki around 6.30 p.m. Officials reportedly said that while elephant trampled Balakrishnan, the second mahout was waiting near the animal to take tourists on safari. The tourists narrowly escaped the attack. The mahout’s body was handed over to relatives after post-mortem examination.

The elephant on the other hand tried to shift from his place, however, mahout continues to hit the big animal with his stick. As a result, the elephant angrily reverted and stomped the mahout to death.
