In a major development, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav on Saturday confirmed the arrest of the main accused in the grenade attack on BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia’s residence. Addressing a press conference, DGP Yadav revealed that the accused, Saidul Amin, was responsible for the attack carried out during the midnight of April 7–8, 2025. Late at night on April 7, unidentified men travelling via E-rickshaw hurled a grenade at Manoranjan Kalia's home i.e. near Shastri Market Chowk in Jalandhar. Following this multiple Punjab leaders including Ravneet Bittu, Ashwani Sharma etc visited Kalia's home.
Addressing the media, DGP Yadav The DGP disclosed that another accused, Abhijot, was killed in an encounter by Haryana Police. Abhijot was reportedly responsible for funding the operation through an individual named Harry. Investigations also suggest that these activities were aimed at disturbing peace in Punjab and were allegedly backed by Pakistan’s ISI.
The arrest was made in coordination with central agencies and police forces from Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. DGP Yadav stated that the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected in the coming days. Authorities are now questioning Saidul Amin to uncover who provided him with shelter and logistical support. It is pertinent to mention here that DGP Yadav mentioned that Abhijot had links to Bhanu Rana Pratap, believed to be based in the United States, hinting at international connections in the conspiracy.
