The death case of Kanpur businessman Manish Gupta has gathered traction as Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has directed to sack involved police officers ‘if they are found guilty'. The 36-year old property dealer allegedly died due to police brutality.
Meanwhile, two committees, one under the ADG law and order and the other under the DG intelligence, will be formed to analyse the records of all police officers in the state and report to the CM.
On Tuesday night, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath spoke with the deceased's wife, Meenakshi Gupta. He expressed condolences and provided financial help of Rs 10 lakh for the family.
Six police officials involved in the case are booked for murder on Wednesday night, however, no arrests are made so far.
CM Yogi is likely to meet the family of the deceased today.
A video, on the other hand, has gone viral that shows DM dissuading the family of the deceased. Sanjay Singh, a Rajya Sabha MP from the Aam Aadmi Party, allegedly shared the video on Twitter. In the video, the district magistrate appears to advise the family that a court case will take years.
“I am requesting you like an elder brother. After a court case, you will not believe, it takes years in court,” the district magistrate Vijay Karan Anand can be heard saying.
The footage then shows police chief Vipin Tada saying, "They had no previous enmity. They were in uniform, which is why I've been listening to you since the morning. You asked that they be suspended and I complied. They won't be reinstated until they have a clean chit."

Wife demands CBI probe

Victim Manish Gupta’s wife Meenakshi has accused the police of beating her husband to death, however, cops denied the charges claiming he was drunk, fell and died of a head injury.
She also accused the hotel staff of cover-up.
“My husband was murdered in that hotel, he was killed by a policeman. There was no blood on the scene even though my husband was beaten bloody. Two of his friends said that there was blood everywhere, but the hotel staff cleaned it up,” said Meenakshi in an interview with a reputed media outlet.
She further said that the family has three demands- case be transferred to Kanpur and CBI probe as they don’t trust the police, family be given Rs 50 lakh in compensation and a job by the state government.
Akhilesh Yadav provide help of 20 lakh
On Thursday, SP President Akhilesh Yadav arrived in Kanpur to meet with the victim's family. Akhilesh Yadav has asked for two crore rupees in compensation for the family from the Yogi government. He also announced a financial aid of Rs. 20 lakhs.
He demanded an investigation under the supervision of a sitting High Court judge, claiming that the police are unable to protect. Taking a dig at BJP, he said the police kills people under the party’s rule.
