Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday confirmed that there will be a Punjab Government Cabinet expansion. CM Mann, while talking to the media after meeting the Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, announced the Punjab Cabinet Expansion. He also announced that Sanjeev Arora, who recently won the Ludhiana West By-election, will be made Minister in the Punjab Government.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann met Governor Banwarilal Purohit on Monday evening at 5:30 PM, and shortly after, confirmed that a cabinet expansion will take place within the next 2–4 days. CM Mann said, “As per our commitment, Sanjeev Arora will be made a minister.” His statement fulfills the promise made by AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal during the bypoll campaign, where he had vowed to induct Arora into the cabinet upon victory.

When questioned about the currently vacant two ministerial posts, CM Mann responded, “We cannot disclose that just yet.” However, sources say the expansion may involve dropping four current ministers and bringing in new faces based on performance.

There is a buzz that former minister Inderjit Singh Nijjar, previously removed from the cabinet, is also being considered for re-induction. Nijjar’s recent active role, particularly after AAP’s defeat in Delhi, has placed him back into focus. Speculation also surrounds a possible change involving a Doaba-region minister.

Party insiders suggest that this reshuffle is not just routine but a calculated move based on a performance audit reportedly ordered by AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal post the Delhi Election loss, aimed at re-energising the Punjab unit ahead of the 2027 elections.
